Please read this important notice regarding bushfire safety from Willunga Recreation ParkIMPORTANT INFORMATION
WRPI has had some queries about the catastrophic fires in recent weeks and what we would do in Willunga should something similar happen here. Contrary to some people’s belief Willunga does not have a designated refuge or place of last resort because we have many roads into and out of the township. Therefore you should be able to leave quite readily as per your Bushfire Survival Plan which the CFS encourages you to prepare.
In the event of such a fire WILLUNGA RECREATION PARK WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AS A SAFE HAVEN. The park and buildings will be used by the CFS and other emergency service personnel as a staging point for water tankers, helicopters, ambulances and fire trucks.
We all have seen how brave and busy our emergency services personnel have been fighting the fires and it is important we ensure they have a safe place to rest, recharge their vehicles, receive further instructions and are able to continue to fight the fires without interference from non-emergency personnel.
Don't wait until it’s too late – create your Bushfire Survival Plan now.
